Eldercare Foundation
The Eldercare Foundation was established in 2000 to increase the community’s awareness of the needs of aging individuals and their families, as well as to raise funds to better serve our community’s elders. We do this through support of Home Aides of Central New York.
Donate in Honor of a Home Health Aide
Why should I give to the Eldercare Foundation?
As the community experiences unprecedented growth in the aging population, there is a looming gap between the number of people who will need supportive services to remain at home and the number of workers available to help them. It’s what is called a “CARE GAP.”
The issue is a critical one for the Central New York community – one that not only impacts our lives today, but will have an even greater impact on the care of our community’s elders tomorrow. To find out more about how we are addressing this concern, download our Case Statement.
Your gifts to the Eldercare Foundation will help to:
- Increase the number of home health aides through recruitment and retention activities
- Offer more advanced training programs to provide career advancement opportunities for our workforce
- Purchase technology to maximize the use of scarce resources and enhance the quality of care for those we serve
- Assist with special projects and capital expenditures
Your donation will help our community’s elders receive the support they need to live with dignity and independence.

Memorial/Honor Giving
This type of gift is a special way to honor or memorialize someone who has touched your life.
- Specify that memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to the Eldercare Foundation or Home Aides of Central New York
- Make a gift in recognition of a special event such as weddings or birthdays
- Aide Appreciation Program
This program is a great way to express gratitude to an aide who has cared for a loved one. Gifts will help underwrite our Aide Recognition Dinner in April (home health aides are able to attend at no cost), advanced training programs, aide recognition programs and other aide thank you events held throughout the year. Also, let us know if you want us to send a note of appreciation to the aide you are honoring.
Annual Giving
Annual gifts provide important funding for current programs such as aide training and recruitment, and special projects. Gifts can be given once a year or through a monthly giving program.
Special Events
Each year, the Eldercare Foundation hosts two annual events – our Eldercare Celebrity Open in the spring and our Gift of Age Cabaret in the fall. As a corporate sponsor there are a variety of sponsorship recognition opportunities available.

Donor Testimonials« Top
“I’ve worked with Home Aides of Central New York and the Eldercare Foundation for many years. During this time, I’ve met individuals who are part of these organizations, and I’ve been continually impressed by their commitment to providing quality care for those in need. Our community is fortunate to have these services available to families; I want them to be here for future generations, which is why I donate annually to the organization.”
- John L. Clark, SIOR, board member and donor
“As a Registered Nurse, I understand what it takes to care for individuals and their families who are in need of help. As Immediate Past Chair of the Home Aides of Central New York Board of Directors, I see firsthand how this organization’s home health aides are well-trained, reliable, conscientious, and the ‘beating heart’ of this organization. I strongly believe in the mission of these agencies, the critical role they play within our community, and our personal duty to ensure their sustainability into the next decade.”
- Nancy Bottar, RN, board member and donor
“Each day, Home Aides of Central New York carries out its mission of enabling elderly individuals to remain at home through the support provided by its dedicated and professional home health aides. Countless families have benefited from the agency’s ability to manage the care of aging parents and loved ones. In many cases, this care not only allows families to better cope with the stress of caregiving, but also saves them from facing difficult alternatives that could, ultimately, result in their loved one’s loss of independence. As a board member, I understand the importance of this work within our aging community, and I support it wholeheartedly.”
- Anthony P. Marshall, Esq., board member and donor
“For more than 10 years, as a palliative care and hospice doctor, I have witnessed the expert care that Home Aides of Central New Yorks’ aides have provided to people at the end of their lives, when it means so much for them to be in their homes. Families have repeatedly talked about how they don’t know how they could have managed without this support. I am proud to serve as a board member for this organization that provides such an important and needed service to the community.”
- Pamela S. Horst, MD, board member and donor
